An ambulance crew coming
back off their third call in a row stopped off at a convenience store to
grab a snack and cold drink. As the crew exited the truck, the
emergency medical technician glanced over at a vehicle that had just
pulled in with a small child standing up in the seat. The veteran EMT's
face went red and he waited until the woman opened her car door. As
she exited her vehicle, he asked her to come over to him for a second.
"Lady,
you do know there's a law about unrestrained children in cars, right",
the EMT asked. The woman glared at him in a way that said she really
wasn't interested in what he had to say.Tuesday, August 30, 2016
Through The Eyes Of The Responder

Damaged Soul
Please pardon the distant, hollow eyes
They've seen their share of Hell
Excuse me if my touch seems cold
I've forgotten how warmth feels
If you touch me and I don't react
It's because I've become numb
I've forgotten how to feel
For you see, I have a damaged soul
A soul once alive has tarnished over time
My heart has been trampled
Under the feet of too many
And I'm tired----
The next time you see me smile
Don't assume I'm okay
If I crack a joke
Laugh with me, it's how I cope
I'm not okay
I'm damaged
And I don't know when
I'll ever be repaired.
They've seen their share of Hell
Excuse me if my touch seems cold
I've forgotten how warmth feels
If you touch me and I don't react
It's because I've become numb
I've forgotten how to feel
For you see, I have a damaged soul
A soul once alive has tarnished over time
My heart has been trampled
Under the feet of too many
And I'm tired----
The next time you see me smile
Don't assume I'm okay
If I crack a joke
Laugh with me, it's how I cope
I'm not okay
I'm damaged
And I don't know when
I'll ever be repaired.
